Hard Limits

about

"Hard Limits" is a seamless musical journey that dives into the self and then floats back out into space, presented as an electronic sonata in 3 movements.

After cancelling a tour and most gigs in 2020, Melody was forced to dedicate some time to concrete musical releases. The first of these, "Hard Limits," represents two years of personal (and creative) growth and exploration. It comes from a place of acknowledging that human connection is one of our most important tools for understanding ourselves; the better we know ourselves - our virtues and foibles, the better can can take care of one another.

The 9-minute sonic vision covers vital themes for life in our day and age: establishing personal boundaries and finding the self-worth to enforce them; and learning and respecting the boundaries of others.

The first movement is about learning how to nourish existing connections and accepting the inevitable moments when our paths diverge. The second movement is a meditation on holding space to learn, and forging a path forward. The third movement is, simply, a release.

Melody's musical project works in conjunction with Smoke Apes, who made the cover art. Together they are working to create vivid and immersive experiences featuring sound and color.

lyrics

hear me outthis won't take longallow me to pick up where we left offi bathe in soundi speak in songand broken hearts turn me on
collecting nightsthat tumble through the dawnmoments are fleeting, fleeting, gonei've got no problem picking out dead leaves to shake offyou tried to shut me outbut all you didwas switch me on
can't cast a spellwith a closed fisti have a bad habit of giving them helland a well wishi tried living in a cracked shellnow I'm spilling over sharp edgestell me all about the deep well you're intrying to live your truth, but with hard limits
tell me about your hard, hard limits
its not over yet.and now we know better.
